Why Visit Chiropractic by Thriveology for Happier Holidays

Why Visit Chiropractic by Thriveology for Happier Holidays
Why visit Chiropractic by Thriveology for happier holidays? While it may be a time of cheer and goodwill, the holidays can also be overwhelming and stressful. In fact, it can be so hectic that people often find themselves not feeling very happy or healthy. Here are just a few reasons why you might want to give yourself the gift of a trip to Thriveology for relief.

Stress of the Season
With so many extra tasks to accomplish – decorating, shopping, cooking, entertaining, and travel – it is hard not to feel a little (or a lot of) holiday stress. Add in some family drama on top of all your regular day-to-day responsibilities and you may find yourself developing aches and pains in your back, your jaw, or your neck. You may even develop some chronic headaches or stomach aches. Not to worry. Getting chiropractic care during the holidays is a great way to put your health first during the holiday season. Your chiropractor can help you ease your body’s stress and relieve the aches and pains that come with tension and stress.

Travel takes a toll on your spine. Whether it’s standing in long lines, sitting on planes, bad weather, or heavy traffic, travel takes a toll on your body. If you visit Chiropractic by Thriveology, we can help. A chiropractor can soothe the strain that comes with travel.

Colds and Flu
Tis the season for colds and flu but with all the change and stress, your body’s immune system may not be at its best. Regular visits to a chiropractor can help your body keep illnesses at bay. Chiropractor visits can help your immune system keep up with the stress and change in weather. A strong immune system can help you avoid colds and the flu.

Neck Stress
Over the holidays, our smartphones, tablets, e-readers, and other hand-held devices experience heavy usage. Prolonged use can create tension in your neck and back muscles because the downward tilt of your head is not a natural position for your body. This tilt puts enormous pressure on the muscles in your head, neck, shoulders, and back. It can create muscle aches, subluxations, strains, and even sprains in these areas.

Excessive holiday use of handheld devices can make these issues even worse. Regular chiropractic care can help undo back and neck aches and irritations, helping improve the issues in your body. Your chiropractor can also show you stretches and positions to improve “text neck” and to minimize these issues in the future.

The Season for Poor Nutritional Choices
The holidays include some delicious but not so nutritious food choices. Cookies, cakes, breads, pies, and other snacks can make it hard to eat nutritious food. No wonder people tend to gain weight over the holidays! Additionally, people tend to drink more alcohol and the combination can make your digestive system sluggish. Chiropractor visits can also help your digestive system get back on track. Making healthier choices can also help.

Your chiropractor can make adjustments to help your digestive system get back to its regular schedule. When you visit Chiropractic by Thriveology, we can’t do much to prevent possible weight gain from too much pie, so try to ease up on the sweets and incorporate healthy choices like vegetables, greens salads, and fruits.

Shopping can be a great deal of fun for some people but it can also be hard on your body. Heavy bags and large boxes can cause neck, shoulder, back, and elbow pain. Long periods of time on hard surfaces or concrete floors can also contribute to back, knee, and foot pain. A number of people end up throwing their back out while loading and unloading heavy boxes. Being mindful of all of this can help you avoid injury. If you end up with aches and pains anyway, visit your chiropractic office for help. When you visit Chiropractic by Thriveology in Denver, we can soothe the aches and pains created from hours of shopping.

Getting heavy boxes out of storage, climbing up to hang lights, cutting down, and hauling trees can all be a bit more like acrobatics than decorating. Decorating can be a bit more dangerous than people realize, so it is a great time to try to slow down and be more careful.

Snow Shoveling
Heavy, wet snow can be hard to shovel and shoveling can be hard on the body. Be sure to use good ergonomic form when shoveling to avoid injury. It can be a great form of exercise but it can also be way too easy to overdo it. Consider hiring someone to take care of those walks for you.

Chiropractic Care is a Great Way to Pamper
With all the extra things you do during the holiday season, going to the chiropractor can be a great way to relax and do something that feels good to your body. After all the shopping, cleaning, cooking, baking, wrapping, shopping, and party preparations, who doesn’t want to feel a little better? A chiropractor can help with relaxation, reduce inflammation, increase mobility, and release muscle tension. This is all particularly helpful during the holidays.

Gift Giving
If you enjoy a trip to the chiropractor, share the experience with family and friends. Gift a trip to the chiropractor as a way to share the joy of feeling better during this stressful season. If you benefit from it, you can expect your loved ones will too. Chiropractic care can help with so many different issues and it can contribute to an overall sense of well-being.

Why visit Chiropractic by Thriveology for happier holidays in Denver? To feel better, of course. If you are feeling some of the downsides of the holiday season, call us to make an appointment today. We can help you find relief from whatever aches and pains you are suffering from, and we can help you get back to feeling better so that you can focus on all the wonderful things that the holidays bring. We look forward to helping you feel your best.

What to Expect at the Chiropractor

What to Expect at the Chiropractor
Today at Thriveology in Denver, we want to share a little about what to expect at the chiropractor. If you have never visited a chiropractor, it is nice to have some idea of what to expect. Your visit will be very similar to visiting other healthcare providers, but chiropractic care also has some unique elements. Usually, a visit to a chiropractor will involve some form of intake, physical exam, and treatment. Let’s explore these in further detail.

The initial chiropractic intake is very comparable to an initial medical consultation at a doctor’s office. You will probably complete a questionnaire about your health, personal information, and your health history. You may be asked to pinpoint where you are experiencing chiropractic symptoms, as well as mark a scale for the severity of your pain.

Physical Exam
A routine physical exam is performed, followed by a closer examination of your spine. Your whole spine will be examined even if only one portion is causing you trouble, though your chiropractor will pay close attention to the area that is causing issues. Additionally, they’ll examine areas that are likely related to your pain areas, such as your neck or legs.

For example, if you are experiencing low back pain, your neck may be examined because issues in one area can result in pain in a different area. The exam may include assessments such as reflex tests, range of motion tests, palpations, neurological tests, muscle strength, and orthopedic tests. Each test will be focused on the area that is causing you trouble.

If you need an exam for your pain or issues, contact us here at Thriveology in Denver for all your chiropractic needs.

Treatment Plans
After your physical exam and assessments are completed, your chiropractor will determine what kind of treatment plan would be best. In making this determination, your chiropractor will take other issues into account. These issues may include:

  • Your overall health
  • Your spine’s condition
  • Your age and any additional injuries past and present
  • The extent of your pain or irritation
  • What you are expecting from treatment (goals)

Goals can be a very important part of your treatment plan. Some people simply want their pain to vanish while others also want to improve their overall health. Additionally, some people have more than one chiropractic symptom and their goals may be more complex. It is important that you and your chiropractor have a good understanding of your condition as well as your expectations. It is also important to make sure that any questions you have are answered. At Thriveology, we welcome them!

Typical Treatment
Though there are a number of other methods of treatment that your chiropractor may use, the main treatment is going to involve spinal adjustments. Additionally, adjustments may be made to other areas besides your spine. All treatments we offer are designed to improve your overall function and health.

If you are experiencing pain or discomfort in your back, neck, arms, or legs come see us at Thriveology in Denver. We can help with your pain and overall health through our holistic approach to wellness. Please contact us today to schedule your appointment.

Waking Up Stiff or Sore on a Daily or Near Daily Basis

If this soreness is occurring regularly, then this means that your sleep positions are likely straining your muscles over the course of the night. The soreness may be attributed to maintaining an uncomfortable position for a long period of time while you are sleeping. Some simple adjustments at Thriveology will help immensely.

Chronic Pain
If you have chronic back and neck pain that doesn’t really seem to go away, you would benefit greatly from a trip to a chiropractor. There are a number of muscles and nerves in your back and neck that can cause you a great deal of pain and trouble.

Injury Not Healing

Sometimes, injuries that didn’t heal properly can cause increasing pain over time. Some adjustments to your back can often help with the pain you may be experiencing.

Leg Pain
If you are experiencing pain that shoots down your legs from your hips or back, you could be suffering from a pinched sciatic nerve. Sciatic nerve pain often results in a shooting pain or sometimes a strong spark of pain. Having a chiropractor treat your pain can give you a great amount of relief.

Your Shoe Soles Wear Differently
If the soles of your shoes have different wear patterns, it can mean that your legs are misaligned. This can be quite common, but if allowed to continue untreated, it can result in increasing amounts of pain. Chiropractic Care and Bananas for Pinched Nerves

Chiropractic Care and Bananas for Pinched Nerves
At Chiropractic by Thriveology of Denver, we know that pain can interfere with life. That’s why we recommend chiropractic care and bananas for pinched nerves. You read that right. You don’t need to suffer from pinched nerve pain indefinitely. We have put together some great ways to alleviate your pinched nerve pain, including upping your banana intake. Using these solutions will help alleviate your nerve pain.

What is a Pinched Nerve?
Before we explain why choose chiropractic care and bananas for pinched nerves, let’s start with the basics.

As nerves exit your spinal column, they can sometimes become compressed. When this occurs, it causes pain that can range from minor to excruciating. Pinched nerves can limit your range of motion. For example, if the pinched nerve pain occurs in your neck, you can have difficulty turning your head. Nerve pain can impair almost any activity and even simple motions can become incredibly difficult due to the pain.

Pain, whether a pinched nerve or otherwise, should not be ignored. Pain is a warning from your body. Early diagnosis and treatment of can help avoid lasting problems.

Visit a Chiropractor
Our chiropractors know a great deal about nerve pain. It is one of the reasons many of our patients come to Chiropractic by Thriveology. A good chiropractor can use very gentle adjustments to realign your spine. This can do a great deal to alleviate your pain. They can also recommend gentle stretches or other possible treatments that can help you reduce your day-to-day pain and heal. Using your chiropractor can help you manage your nerve pain over time as well. Causing you pain to dissipate until it disappears completely.

By coming to our professionals, we can treat your nerve pain along with a wide variety of other symptoms that may or may not be related. We can also help you determine what other beneficial steps would best alleviate your pain and heal the area of discomfort.

Eat Dark Green Veggies and Bananas
It is surprising to some that simple additions to your diet can help immensely with nerve pain. Sometimes, a calcium deficiency can be an underlying factor in pinched nerve pain. Adding calcium-rich foods like spinach, kale, dairy, or seaweed, is a great way to help solve this underlying issue. Calcium supplements or calcium-enriched, such as calcium-enriched orange juice, foods are other ways to add extra calcium.

Potassium-rich foods can also help remedy your pinched nerve problem. Diets low in potassium can be another contributing factor in nerve issues. Some of the best potassium-rich foods include apricots, nuts, avocados, and of course, bananas. You can add these to your breakfast smoothies or your salads, or just eat them as a snack.

If you think you have a potassium deficiency, you should visit your doctor. You may need a supplement but should only take it under a doctor’s direction. Too much potassium can be much more problematic than not enough. In fact, too much can be life-threatening.

Beyond chiropractic care and bananas for pinched nerves, there are other things you can do to help ease your pain.

Sit up Straight
Your neck and back are made to support your body when your head is in a neutral position. With the rise in phone and computer use, our posture can suffer. Tilting your head forward puts additional pressure on your neck and slouching puts additional strain on your back. If you make a concerted effort to maintain your posture, you can alleviate some of the extra strain on your nerves which can help lessen your pain and swelling.

A good way to help your pinched nerve is to rest it. You can limit or reduce motion of the area. Wearing a neck or back brace can help with this. Limiting motion and resting can allow your muscles and joints to heal. It can reduce inflammation and allow a faster return to feeling better. It can be difficult to rest your neck or back because they are essential to so much of your day to day activity. Whatever you can do to limit your movement, even for an hour or two, can be helpful.

Get Extra Sleep
Your body heals best when it is at rest. If you want to alleviate your pinched nerve pain, extra sleep is an excellent way to give your body more healing time. Extra rest also limits your movement. Sleep will help reduce swelling and decrease your pain. Additionally, you could consider wearing a brace while to sleep to further reduce your movement. An extra hour or two of sleep every night, while you are healing, can reduce your healing time

You may need to consider changing your sleep position, particularly if you are a stomach sleeper. Stomach sleeping is associated with more neck and back pain than side or back sleeping. Side and back sleeping are not as strongly associated with nerve pain.

Find a low impact exercise that is comfortable because exercise increases blood flow and circulation, both of which help with healing. Swimming and walking are both low impact, helpful exercises to perform while you are healing. There are a few tips to keep in mind:

  •  Remember to maintain good posture while exercising.
  •  Maintaining a healthy weight can also help with your pinched nerve issue.
  • Inactivity can cause a loss of muscle strength. This can actually slow your healing.

Consider alternative exercises such as tai chi or water aerobics. Look for exercises that don't exacerbate your pinched nerve pain but still allow you to maintain a level of fitness.

Ice It Down
Using ice is a great way to reduce swelling. Swelling of an area is one of the factors of nerve pain. Inflammation is your body’s response to injury and icing an area is an excellent way to control swelling. Ice the area a couple times a day help your pain and speed up the healing.

If you are suffering from nerve pain, chiropractic care and bananas for pinched nerves can help. Contact us here at Chiropractic By Thriveology in Denver. We can help you and begin to alleviate your pain.

Soothe Headaches with Chiropractic Treatments

Soothe Headaches with Chiropractic Treatments
Did you know that you can potentially soothe headaches with chiropractic treatments? At Chiropractic by Thriveology, we help a number of clients with chronic headaches and even migraines. If you are suffering from regular headaches, we can help you too. Here’s a bit of insight that can help you determine if chiropractic care may help with your headache woes.

Painful and Frequent
One of the most common reasons people visit their doctor or primary care physician is frequent and reoccurring headaches. In fact, over 250 million workdays are missed due to headaches and the lost days cost employers over 25 billion a year. That is a lot of pain.

Many of these headaches are seemingly simple but surprisingly painful tension headaches. Migraines are another common but painful occurrence. Other headaches can be caused by sinus infections, high blood pressure, or a number of other troubles. Headaches and migraines, regardless of cause, can be incredibly painful and it can be very frustrating if you suffer from them on a regular basis.

The Problem with Medication
There are a number of very powerful medications available that can mask the pain of headaches and migraines. They can numb your nervous system so that you don’t feel the pain. The issue is that these drugs never really address the cause of the pain. Medications can seem convenient, but some come with alarming side effects while others can cause long-term trouble such as kidney or liver damage. Because they never address the root cause, continued and sometimes increased medication is required to manage the continuing and reoccurring headache pain.

Headaches are Rarely Life-Threatening
Some headaches and migraines are so powerful and painful that sufferers are convinced that something is terribly wrong. However, headaches are associated with an array of health problems and conditions, so determining a cause can be difficult. But, what you may not realize is that headaches are rarely a symptom of something serious or life-threatening.

Many doctors will send their patients for tests, such as CT scans or MRIs and according to one source, only one in 11,200 patients have a problem that can be diagnosed using these tests. Yet, close to a third of migraine and chronic headache sufferers have had a CT scan or MRI to find a cause. Doctors and patients are usually looking in the wrong area to determine the source of the pain. Surprisingly, the source is often not really your head at all.

Your Neck
A frequent cause of many headaches and migraines is really an issue in the neck. Frequently, spinal bones in the neck are not supporting the head properly and this is causing headaches. This issue can affect muscles, nerves, and even the blood supply.

Research has shown that it’s possible to soothe headaches with chiropractic treatments. A majority of headaches and migraines can be relieved when jaw problems and misaligned spinal joints, called subluxations, are corrected using chiropractic methods. Jaw problems and subluxations are common sources of head pain, which stem from irritated nerves.

What Does Chiropractic Care Do?
Chiropractic doctors determine which areas of the spine are not moving correctly and look at your posture, as well as your ability to bend and turn. They also notice how your spine curves to help determine the source or sources of your problem. Chiropractors are trained to notice signs of rare problems that may instead need immediate medical care.

Your chiropractor may create a schedule of adjustments to help with your headaches. These adjustments will improve spinal function, reduce irritation of your nerves, help improve circulation and realign your spine. Chiropractic care is an excellent way to soothe headaches with chiropractic treatments.

What Causes Headaches
Headaches can be caused by a myriad of issues. A headache is a way for your body to signal that something is not quite right. Headaches do not generally occur without cause. They can be the result of excessive eating, drinking, and smoking. Headaches can also occur because your eyes have been strained for long periods of time – how much time do you spend on a computer or texting on your phone? Even your diet can cause headaches. How about poor lighting, loud noises, hunger, air pollutants, strongly scented or off-gassing products, stress, constipation, and infection? Yes, these are all on the list of potential headache causes.

Serious Headaches
Almost everyone has suffered from a headache at one time or another. Some headaches are simply annoying even though they are mild in nature. More serious headaches are intense and frequent and can include additional symptoms such as nausea, severe throbbing, light sensitivity, and irritability. Such severe headaches can be debilitating and are often referred to as migraines.

Migrain headaches can affect bodily functions and your vision. They can be responsible for personality and mood changes, even cause pain and uncomfortable sensations elsewhere in the body. Americans spend millions of dollars to get relief from such terrible headache pain. Migraines are tough for those who suffer from them which is why people are desperate to cure them and come to us to soothe headaches with chiropractic treatments.

How Your Chiropractor Helps You
A chiropractor focuses on alleviating headaches stemming from neuromusculoskeletal (muscles, bones, and nerves in the body) sources of your headaches. After performing a spinal exam to determine if chiropractic care can help, the chiropractic doctor can perform chiropractic adjustments to correct any misaligned vertebrae in the back or neck area.

Specific spinal manipulations can even provide relief immediately. A study of headache sufferers followed 87 participants over a two-year period and revealed great improvement. In 85% of females, common migraines had ceased or were greatly reduced in frequency and 50% of the male participants experienced the same relief. For those with classic frequent headaches, 75% of males and 78% of females were able to soothe headaches with chiropractic treatments.

If you are experiencing frequent headaches or migraines, contact us here for a consultation at Chiropractic by Thriveology in Denver. We can focus on spinal alignment, neck issues and other trouble areas to help soothe headaches with chiropractic care.

Chiropractic care for infertility assists with restoring balance in the body by improving nervous system function and spinal mechanics. If you have a history of physical trauma or pain and are experiencing infertility, come see us at Chiropractic by Thriveology in Denver to find out how we can help you heal. We can evaluate your spinal and holistic health and recommend improvements while helping your restore your body’s health.

Spinal Influence on Overall Health
The condition of your spine can have a dramatic influence on your overall well-being and health. The spine protects and supports your nervous system. Your nervous system is responsible for coordinating and controlling all of your body’s processes and functions. The nerves in your lower back deliver and receive constant messages from your reproductive system. For optimal function, the communication must be functioning properly. Misalignments or structural or functional issues in your spine can disrupt this communication. Additionally, a holistic chiropractor looks at the various factors in your life that can affect fertility and help you address these issues holistically.

Cost Effective
Treatments for infertility can be incredibly costly, stressful, and time-consuming. Patients can spend over $20,000 in the search for fertility improvements. Some of these costly treatments have success rates as low as 10%. While many of these treatments have improved over the years, there is still no surefire way to solve infertility. Chiropractic treatments for infertility can be quite affordable and safe in comparison. Though there have not been any high-quality controlled studies that have examined the use of chiropractics to improve fertility, there are increasing numbers of case reports and support. Additionally, chiropractic care can offer other holistic health benefits while helping you through your fertility issues.

Whole Health and Wellness
Our chiropractors will focus on your whole body’s well-being. We understand that multiple factors may play a role in fertility issues and that addressing the whole body will help get to the root of the multiple factors that can play a role in infertility. Benefits of Holistic Chiropractic Care

Benefits of Holistic Chiropractic Care
Here at Chiropractic by Thriveology in Denver, we know a lot about the benefits of holistic chiropractic care. Holistic care is getting a great deal of attention in recent years. Many people are not completely satisfied with traditional medical care and a good number have turned their attention to holistic philosophies and alternative health treatments.

Holistic Care
Holistic care takes the whole person into consideration: mind, body, and spirit. The theory is that taking care of the entire person better helps a person heal and attain true wellness. Holistic care ultimately believes that wellness and health are not simply an absence of illness but a balance of the three parts of the whole person. Holistic care encourages a wider range of options for treatment and encourages using an open mind about all the possibilities for healing. Holistic medicine is not a replacement for traditional treatment but encompasses all treatment options.

Principles of Holistic Healthcare
Holistic care is built on utilizing natural care first and foremost. Medication and surgery are often a last resort. Whether you have back or neck pain, anxiety, or sciatica, holistic care professionals believe that patients should first look to such changes as:

·       Holistic treatments in addition to traditional treatments, not as replacement therapies but as complementary therapies
·       Techniques for stress reduction
·       Lifestyle changes such as exercise and diet improvement

Holistic care professionals work to solve the root cause for issues rather than simply managing symptoms. In the long term, holistic health practitioners hope to see fewer cases of illness because they are working on the core problems and overall wellness of the patient.

What Kinds of Holistic Medicine are Available?
There are a variety of holistic treatments available to patients who need care. Common treatments which are holistic in nature include:

·       Chiropractic care
·       Yoga
·       Massage
·       Guided imagery
·       Nutritional guidance
·       Acupuncture
·       Herbal medicine

During chiropractic treatment, other holistic treatments may be offered or incorporated into our treatment here at Chiropractic by Thriveology.

Holistic practitioners believe that the bond between patient and healer is most effective when both embrace the potential healing as well as the relationship between patient and healer. Your chiropractic team involves you in all of your care to be sure that you are on board with the full healing process. Your holistic chiropractor is not simply healing your body but also teaching you to help yourself and your body in the future. Holistic chiropractics are non-invasive and intended to help find the root of your body’s issues for long-term healing and benefits.
